Blockchain infrastructure company DSRV has started supporting the Canton Network, which is drawing attention for real-linked assets (RWA) and asset tokenization infrastructure of Wall Street financial companies.
DSRV announced on the 10th that it has added Canton Coin (CC), a utility token of Canton Network, to its digital asset custodian service.
As a result, DSRV's institutional and corporate customers can use the custodian service that stores and manages Canton coins.
The company explained that as the tokenization of traditional financial assets and the expansion of the RWA market are increasing, the demand for the use of digital assets by financial companies and general corporations is increasing, it has expanded the scope of support to cantons specialized in institutional finance.
In the future, the strategy is not just to add virtual asset storage services, but to preoccupy the on-chain financial market of institutions and corporations by providing node operations, corporate wallets, and application development.
Canton is a blockchain focused on narrowing the gap between the transparency of a typical public blockchain and the confidentiality required by financial companies.
Existing public blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum have a structure in which transaction information is disclosed to the network in principle, so there were restrictions on financial companies posting sensitive data directly, such as customer information and transaction positions.
Canton is designed to link different applications and assets while selectively disclosing transaction information to parties authorized to verify that information.
The Canton network is a privacy-based public layer 1 aimed at regulated assets and multilateral financial transactions, and each participant is designed to check only the information they have the right to view, even if they participate in the same transaction.
The difference from existing chains is that financial companies may not expose transaction strategies or customer information to an unspecified number of people while utilizing the interoperability unique to the public blockchain.
Recently, the global financial market is also accelerating its movement to connect Canton to actual financial infrastructure.
According to the Canton Network, assets processed on the network exceeded $350 billion per day. Ledger, a global virtual asset hardwallet company, announced last month support for Canton coins and Canton-based privacy assets, saying more than $9 trillion in real asset-related transactions are being processed in Canton.
This means that competition for infrastructure that connects payment, collateral, and tokenization assets for institutions beyond simple blockchain experiments is in full swing.
The global RWA market itself is also growing rapidly. According to CoinGecko's tally, the market capitalization of tokenized RWA, excluding stablecoins, rose 256 percent in 15 months from $5.42 billion at the beginning of last year to $19.32 billion at the end of March this year. Among them, tokenized U.S. government bonds accounted for more than half of the growth.
As the financial sector expands the use of blockchain from virtual asset transactions to traditional assets such as government bonds, stocks, funds, and raw materials, the importance of institutional-level custodian infrastructure to store and control them is also growing.
In fact, a series of projects are being conducted in Canton to tokenize institutional assets.
The U.S. Securities Depository (DTCC) will launch a tokenization service in October in partnership with Canton Network operator Digital Asset to tokenize some of the U.S. government bonds held by DTC in Canton.
With the support of Canton Coin, DSRV plans to provide the infrastructure necessary for institutional and corporate customers to use blockchain networks for actual businesses.
It plans to support not only digital asset custodians, but also security, internal control, and compliance requirements that are essential to institutional customers.
In particular, DSRV is expanding its business scope to include introduction consulting, node operation, NaaS (Node as a Service), application development, and corporate wallets in addition to custodians in relation to Canton.
It is a structure that supports the institution from the stage of building the technical infrastructure necessary to directly participate in the Canton network to the process of developing services and storing assets on it.
It also made practical application cases using cantons in Korea. DSRV recently established a canton-based payment system in 'Cafedsen', an in-house Itisen Group cafe.
It is characterized by linking the in-house enterprise resource management (ERP) system with the blockchain to process orders, payments, and settlements in real time.
Based on such operational experience, DSRV plans to expand its digital financial infrastructure business for institutions such as RWA and Token Securities (STO) in the future.
Seo Byung-yoon, co-chairman of DSRV, said, "In the institutional finance sector, the movement to apply blockchain and digital assets to actual financial infrastructure is accelerating. We will provide the necessary infrastructure so that customers who want to use Canton can stably pursue the on-chain financial business."
