API Terms

Version 2026-10-22, in effect from October 22, 2026

01

Scope

These terms cover the CCTools API at api.cctools.network, its keys, its paid plans, x402 calls and the MCP server. They add to the CCTools Terms of Service at cctools.network/terms; where the two differ for the API, these terms apply.

02

Free with No Key

The open daily network record is published under CC BY 4.0, and that license governs it. The aggregator feeds, the status endpoint, the OpenAPI file and the MCP server need no key. Everything else needs a key or, where offered, an x402 payment.

03

Plans

Pro includes API access for personal, non-commercial use. Data plans (Starter and Team) allow commercial use: you may show and use the data inside your own product or service. Enterprise allows commercial use inside your product under the order we agree, with the service level and support written in that order.

Evaluation keys, which our team issues on request, are for testing only and end after 30 days unless we say otherwise. The Validator tier is free for 12 months with no per-key limit, as approved in our Canton Development Fund grant, including commercial use of the endpoints marked Data plans; sections 04 to 07 apply to it as to any plan.

Limits per minute (per key and endpoint), per day (per account) and the number of keys per plan are published at cctools.network/api-docs; every client also sits under a per-IP ceiling.

04

Which Data a Plan Covers

The API docs mark each endpoint "Data plans" or "Personal use". Personal-use endpoints carry data from third parties, other indexers or people, or data we have not cleared for commercial use; no plan grants commercial use of them, and the docs name each source.

The same applies to the matching output of the MCP server: commercial use of it needs a Data plan, and the output of its network statistics and governance tools is personal use only.

An x402 call buys personal use of the answer it pays for.

05

Attribution

Wherever you show data from the API to others, credit "Data: CCTools (cctools.network)" with a link, in a place a reader can see.

06

No Resale of Raw Data

You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute the API's data as a dataset, a feed or an API of your own, whether or not you charge for it. Products and analysis built on the data are fine, within the use section 04 allows; the open daily record follows its own license (CC BY 4.0).

07

Keys

A key belongs to the account that created it. Do not share keys, or use several accounts to get around a limit.

08

Payment

Data plans are prepaid in Canton Coin at the amount locked in your quote, for the period you choose. They do not renew automatically; access ends at the end of the period unless you renew. A Data plan bought while the same or a larger Data plan runs starts when that one ends. A smaller Data plan that is running pauses while a larger Data plan runs and resumes after it; Pro and plans granted by our team keep their own end dates. Data plan payments are not refunded, except where the law requires it. Ask us for an evaluation key to test the API before you buy.

Where x402 is offered, each payment buys one call, at the price shown in the payment request.

09

Accuracy

Network data comes from public sources and may be delayed, incomplete or, where marked, frozen at an earlier round; how the record and its figures are built is described at cctools.network/methodology. Only an Enterprise order includes a service level.

10

Changes

We give at least 30 days' notice of a change that reduces a paid plan, and the period you have paid for keeps its terms.

11

Ending Access

We may suspend a key that breaks these terms or harms the service, and will tell the account holder why.

12

Other Rules

Nothing in these terms changes any rule of the Canton Foundation or its committees that applies to you or to us.
