Zenith is positioned as a significant infrastructure player within the Canton Network, leveraging its Tier-1 Super Validator status and strong institutional ties. While still in the building phase, its focus on atomic composability and Ethereum compatibility presents a compelling value proposition. Continued development and user engagement will be crucial for enhancing its community and activity scores.

Zenith on Canton

EVM/SVM execution layer enabling Solidity and Rust smart contracts on Canton Network

About Zenith

Zenith is the native EVM and SVM execution layer for Canton Network, enabling developers to deploy unmodified Solidity (and eventually Rust/Solana) applications that compose atomically with Canton's institutional smart contracts written in Daml. It eliminates the need to learn Daml or use bridges to access Canton's regulated capital-markets infrastructure, which processes over $9T in monthly volume across institutions like JPMorgan, DTCC, Nasdaq, Goldman Sachs, and Broadridge. Zenith holds Tier-1 Super Validator status on Canton with maximum consensus weight of 10, the same as DTCC, Nasdaq, Visa, and Circle, and is the first technology company to reach that tier. The product ships as three deployment surfaces: Zenith EVM (a Reth-based public EVM), Zenith Stack (customizable EVM environments for institutions designed with Digital Asset), and a planned Zenith SVM for Solana developers.

Features

What the product does

100% Ethereum Compatibility

EVM applications deploy unmodified with standard Ethereum RPC, working out of the box with Solidity, Hardhat, Foundry, and MetaMask.

Atomic Composability with Canton

Every EVM transaction is routed natively through the Canton protocol, allowing atomic settlement between EVM contracts and Daml smart contracts without bridges.

Reth-Based Execution Client

Zenith EVM uses Reth as its high-performance reference execution client, exposing standard Ethereum RPC for full tool compatibility.

Zenith Stack (Custom EVM Environments)

Institutions can launch fully customized, trusted EVM environments anchored to Canton without operating their own infrastructure. Designed in collaboration with Digital Asset.

Zenith SVM (Coming Soon)

Planned Solana-compatible execution layer enabling Rust developers to deploy SVM applications on Canton with the same atomic composability.

High Performance

Targets 100,000+ TPS and sub-second transaction confirmation via horizontal scaling and sharding.

Tier-1 Super Validator Governance

Holds consensus weight 10 on Canton, equal to DTCC, Nasdaq, Visa, and Circle. Sits on multiple governing committees including the Canton Ecosystem Fund.

Chainlink and LayerZero Integrations

Native integrations with Chainlink (oracles) and LayerZero (cross-chain messaging) referenced at launch.

Privacy and Compliance Preservation

EVM execution inherits Canton's privacy architecture and compliance controls, so institutional applications retain regulatory properties while exposing an EVM surface.

Zenith FAQ

Zenith is the native EVM/SVM execution layer for Canton Network. It lets Ethereum and Solana developers deploy applications that interact atomically with Canton's institutional infrastructure without learning Daml or using bridges.
No. Per co-founder Heslin Kim, Zenith is closer to a true L0 than an L2. It extends Canton's network of networks concept into composability with Ethereum and Solana ecosystems, rather than rolling state up to a separate base layer.
Targeted for Q2 2026, within roughly four months of the Canton Network blog post dated 2026-03-23. A permissioned testnet is already active and Milestone 1 (CIP-0091) is complete.
No. Zenith EVM is fully bytecode-compatible. Unmodified Solidity contracts deploy directly using Hardhat, Foundry, or MetaMask.
Zenith EVM is the public, instant-deploy EVM environment. Zenith Stack lets institutions launch fully customized, trusted EVM environments tailored to their compliance and counterparty requirements, designed with Digital Asset.
No token has been publicly announced for Zenith itself. Transactions settle within the Canton economic model, which uses CC (Canton Coin) for fees and validator rewards.
Zenith operates as a Tier-1 Super Validator on Canton (consensus weight 10) and earns Canton Coin via the network's standard validator reward mechanism. App developers on Zenith can earn rewards through Canton's volume-based reward system.
Use cases mirror Canton's institutional surface: tokenized real-world assets, regulated DeFi, settlement applications, on-chain treasuries, collateral management, and stablecoin integrations. All composable with Canton-native counterparties like JPMorgan Kinexys, DTCC tokenized treasuries, and Fireblocks custody.
